Enroll America for Affordable Health Insurance Coverage for All
September 19th, 2011
Have you heard of the new health care group called Enroll America? Based on their name, you must already have an idea of what the group aims to accomplish. Enroll America is a nonprofit group made up of health insurance carriers, hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, consumer groups, civic groups and employers. Members of the coalition include California Blue Shield, Families USA, Kaiser Permanente, the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network, AARP and the Catholic Health Assn. of the United States.
The health care reform has already paved the way for almost all Americans to be covered under an affordable health insurance and have easier access to health care by 2014. But much has yet to be done to realize this vision. Getting millions of Americans to enroll in health insurance plans is still a challenge. This is where the coalition comes in. They intend to close what they call the “enrollment gap” by creating a consumer-friendly enrollment process and by making various information that will make things easier for Americans to enroll.
Enroll America has started over a year ago. They were able to gather $6 million but Rachel Klein, the executive director said they need to raise $10 million more to carry out their mission. One of their advertising plan is to have some players from the National Football League appear in their campaign ads.
Enroll America works by adapting new trends and methods that can improve enrollment in health insurance plans. They share this information with the federal and state government so they could create more user-friendly enrollment procedures and guidelines. The group also works towards raising the uninsured’s awareness of the health plan options they have as well as ways for them to enroll.
Some people have heard about the health care reform but they are not fully aware of how exactly it could help them. Some know that it could help them but they are uncertain if they could qualify to apply and how they can go about the enrollment. These are the challenges that the coalition has to hurdle. The health care reform is projected to insure 32 million more Americans in 2019. Right now there are 16 million Americans who are qualified to apply for an affordable health insurance coverage but remain uninsured. Ensuring the 16 million will be the measure of the group’s success.
