Bringing Down Disability Costs with Affordable Health Insurance

Each year there are many individuals who become severely injured while on the clock during their employ. These injuries can be a result of slipping down a stairway while changing floors where you are employed to falling out the cargo hold of an airplane, to improperly operating a crane. When these accidents do occur, most employees are covered under the employer’s disability health insurance plan.

However, it does mean lost time from the place of employ while the employee is recuperating.  This can be anything from weeks to months and sometimes even longer. The employer is now short labor, and the employee is out of employment for a period of time on half salary at best. Neither side is content with the situation, but both will accept what is currently in place.

The medical health care community has performed a few studies with this very issue and have become enlightened to a variety of new means that once put into place will help to shorten the time away from work.  One of the most noticeable studies has researched early intervention with startling results that were not expected. The entire united health care team has come up with the following results to help injured employees back to work sooner than what was recently expected.

1. Physician coaching with regard to expectations of returning to the place of employ
2. Educating both the employer and the employees on various issues
3. Returning to your place of employ on light duty first and easing into your normal position
4. Immediate medical intervention to ensure a swifter recovery time
5. Additional vocational training in the event an individual may not return to a past employment position

The affordable health insurance policy that you are enrolled with through your place of employment will pay for some of your medical rehabilitation, but it is really the disability under the workmen’s compensation that remits payment for the majority of your medical needs during your time of convalescence. The various studies that have been conducted have come to their conclusion. They show the following results.

1. Employees who received early medical intervention returned to work much sooner that the average employee with the same disabilities
2. Employees receiving short-term disability individual affordable health insurance attention did return to work weeks ahead of the ordinary schedule
3. One third of all disability insurance claims never entered into the realm of long-term disability because of early medical intervention
